Nick Saban offered a funny answer Wednesday to a question about Tua Tagovailoa’s status.
The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated Michigan in a 35-16 win at the Citrus Bowl on Wednesday. Tagovailoa was in attendance for the game despite not being able to play due to his recovery from hip surgery.
There are many questions about whether the quarterback will return for his senior season at Alabama or enter the NFL Draft despite being at less than full strength. Saban was asked after the game whether he thinks Tua will be medically cleared for the draft and offered a perfect response.

Saban also said that the decision will be up to Tagovailoa and the quarterback’s family.

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, who served as an analyst for ESPN’s TV coverage of the game, said he thought Tagovailoa would return to school. Tagovailoa has said he is considering a return to school. He would still likely be a first-round pick if he were to enter the draft, even coming off hip surgery. He needs to weigh whether he wants to try improving his draft stock with a strong college season or whether he just wants to begin his pro career immediately.
