The Texas Longhorns play a bowl game in ten days, but still don’t know who their starting quarterback will be in it.
Coach Tom Herman admitted that he has yet to decide whether Shane Buechele or Sam Ehlinger will get the nod in the Texas Bowl against Missouri on Dec. 27.
The two quarterbacks have alternated during practice, with Buechele going first and Ehlinger following.
“They’ve both had good days and both have had not so good days,” Herman said, via Chuck Carlton of SportsDay. “So we’ve got a lot of time to worry about that, in terms of who’s going to get the bulk of the reps in the game.”
Buechele got the bulk of the action in five games, while Ehlinger got seven, including the last two games of the regular season. Neither was particularly convincing, and were symptomatic of Herman’s frustrations with the team’s inconsistency.
