Oregon State head coach Trent Bray was not happy with the performance of his special teams unit during the first half of Saturday’s game against Fresno State. He was so unhappy, in fact, that he could not hold back during his live halftime interview.
The Beavers played a first half that was riddled with mistakes, particularly on special teams. The unit was poor last week, but things got even worse on Saturday with long snapper Dylan Black sidelined by injuries. His absence contributed to multiple mistakes, including a botched extra point and a disastrous punt that led to a Fresno State touchdown just before halftime.
With that touchdown still fresh, Bray was in no mood to mince words during a halftime interview with The CW’s Nigel Burton.
“We allowed ourselves to create their success. Both in special teams, f—ing joke, and on big plays on defense,” Bray said.

It was tough to argue with Bray, as the special teams unit essentially cost Oregon State seven points in the first half alone.
Bray certainly knew he was on television, but he also did not care. Such are the risks of live in-game interviews like this one. He’s far from the first coach to do something like this, and he will not be the last.
The 42-year-old Bray is in his second season as Oregon State’s head coach, having previously served as defensive coordinator. His Beavers went 5-7 last year.
