AJ Green says he has ‘no real beef’ with Jalen Ramsey

A.J. Green got into a rare physical confrontation with Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey during a game last season that resulted in both players being ejected, but the star wide receiver insists there is no lingering tension heading into the 2018 campaign.

When asked about the skirmish during an appearance on “PFT Live” Wednesday, Green said the incident that featured him throwing swings at Ramsey was merely the heat of competition.

“There’s no real beef,” he said. “There’s no real beef off the field. There’s just two competitors. Got in the heat of the moment. Stuff happens. When you’re playing, it’s sports man. You know, tempers go crazy sometimes, and sometimes you can’t control emotions. I couldn’t control mine that day. [I’ve] got to do a better job of that.”

The Jaguars and Bengals do not play each other during the regular season in 2018, so any rematch between Ramsey and Green would not come unless the teams met in the playoffs (highly unlikely). And although he says there is no actual beef with him and Ramsey, Green says he will be ready for anything the next time the two square off.

“Whenever that time comes, I’ll be ready for it,” he said.

Ramsey may have thrown the first shove at Green, but Green took things too far when he grabbed Ramsey around the neck and began throwing punches at him. The star wideout later apologized for letting his emotions get the best of him, and Ramsey proudly revealed what he said that set Green off. Seeing the two line up against one another again would make for great entertainment, but we’ll have to wait a while for it to happen.
