Broncos reportedly listening to trade offers for Demaryius Thomas
The Denver Broncos finally woke up with a dominant performance against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, but it sounds like they are still considering tearing down their roster and rebuilding.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that several teams have reached out to the Broncos about potentially trading for Demaryius Thomas, and Denver is listening to the offers. While that does not mean a trade will happen, the Broncos are clearly open to it.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, teams have been inquiring about both Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders since before the season began, but Schefter’s report states that the Broncos have only been interested in listening to offers for Thomas, not Sanders. While the 31-year-old Sanders is older than the 30-year-old Thomas, he has been more productive in recent seasons and is playing on a more team-friendly contract.
Thomas failed to eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark last season for the first time in six years, and he has 33 catches for 372 yards and three touchdowns this year. It does not appear his new diet has resulted in anything miraculous happening, though Denver’s passing game as a whole has been a mess over the past several seasons.
