Commanders using new kicker for second game in a row
The Washington Commanders will be utilizing a new kicker for the second game in a row.
The Commanders signed Zane Gonzalez to their practice squad last week and elevated him to the active roster in Week 10 to fill Austin Seibert’s spot. Seibert remains out with a hip injury, so the Commanders have elevated Gonzalez for the second week in a row and will have him kicking on Thursday night against the Eagles.
Gonzalez should be a reliable option for Washington.
In Week 10, Gonzalez made both of his field goal attempts and went 3/3 on extra points. That was a strong showing for the 29-year-old, who hadn’t kicked in the NFL since 2021 prior to last week.
For his career, Gonzalez has made 80.9 percent of his field goals and 94.9 percent of his extra point attempts. He has kicked for the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers, in addition to the Commmanders.
The 7-3 Commanders are visiting the 7-2 Eagles in big NFC East clash.
