The Dallas Cowboys have yet to make any announcements about Jason Garrett’s job status now almost a week after the regular season ended, and it does not sound like members of the team know any more about the situation than the general public at this point.
Garrett is still expected to part ways with the Cowboys, but Jerry Jones and the team’s front office reportedly have not given any official word to players and members of the coaching staff. Both Jane Slater of NFL Network and 105.3 The Fan’s Mike Fisher have been told players and coaches remained in the dark as of Friday.
At this hour, coaches and players tell me they have not been informed of any changes at the head coaching position. #Cowboys HC Jason Garrett, himself, has yet to respond to my inquiries. If a decision is imminent, it has still not been conveyed.

ALERT: Two prominent members of the #Cowboys staff tell me they've not been informed of a final decision on Garrett, 'despite what the media reports,' one tells me. 'As far as we as a staff are concerned, we're showing up to work. That's what we do.' pic.twitter.com/5IljJOwaKB

The belief is that the Cowboys are trying to do right by Garrett, who has a very strong relationship with the Jones family and deep ties to the organization. It’s also possible that they want potential head coaching replacements to appreciate the way they are handling the Garrett situation.
Eventually, the Cowboys have to make a move. Some have wondered if Garrett could remain with the organization in a new capacity next season, but that seems highly unlikely. Garrett should get other head coaching interviews when Dallas eventually cuts him loose.
