Dean Blandino leaving NFL, will reportedly go into TV
The NFL’s officiating department will be undergoing some major changes this offseason, as Senior Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino announced on Friday that he is leaving his position.
A memo went out to all 32 teams informing them of the change, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Blandino is planning to take a job in television similar to the one Mike Pereira has with FOX.
NFL's VP of officiating Dean Blandino is expected to pull a Romo and go into TV a la @MikePereira, per sources. More money, less stress.

You certainly can’t blame Blandino for getting sick of his job, as he is the person everyone complains to when there is a terrible call or a rule that needs to be addressed. Most recently, Blandino had to explain a controversial call in the NFL playoffs that fans were furious about.
If Blandino can make more money in a TV role like Pereira’s, the decision to make a career change was likely a no-brainer.
