Frank Gore fired a shot at former teammate Vernon Davis on social media Tuesday, though he claimed it was only a joke.
After Davis posted a photo of himself hugging a football on Instagram with the caption “repost if you miss football season as much as I do,” Gore chimed in and said Davis lacks passion for the game.
Gore deleted the comment shortly after he posted it, and he followed up by claiming he was “just playing around whit my boy.” While that could certainly be the case, it always looks suspicious when your initial reaction is to delete the comment.
For what it’s worth, Davis later shared a photo of Gore wearing his Indianapolis Colts practice jersey.
Davis captioned the photo as follows:
“LOOK GUYS! Little Frankie changed his number. #wemissyoulittlebuddy
#icantbelieveit #wow #reallytho.”
After racking up 850 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in 2013, Davis was hampered by injuries last season and was limited to 245 yards and just two scores. Gore appeared in all 16 games for the fourth consecutive season. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of them.
This isn’t the first time Gore has stirred up trouble on Instagram.
