Greg Olsen, Ben Jacobs have been ‘Creedbombing’ Panthers teammates

Creed

Would you believe us if we told you the smooth sounds of the band Creed have helped guide the Carolina Panthers to a 16-1 record and a berth in the NFC Championship Game? Well, believe it.

Panthers linebacker Ben Jacobs has come up with a very unique way to keep his teammates loose, and it’s called “Creedbombing.” Jacobs, tight end Greg Olsen and team trainer Brett Nenaber have made a habit of surprising teammates on the practice field and around the team facility by getting in their face and belting out Creed lyrics.

“The key is you’ve got to make really deep, direct eye contact,” Jacobs explained, via Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. “So if you Creedbomb someone you’ve got to look them directly in the eye.”

On Wednesday, Jacobs sang an infamous line from Creed’s “One Last Breath.”

“Hold me now! I’m 6 feet from the edge and I’m thinking.”

And it could get worse. When discussing how bad Creed is, Jacobs brought up another terrible 90s band — Nickelback.

“We were just talking about how when we were younger bands like Creed and Nickelback were big,” he said. “We were laughing with the raspy voices and how much we still kind of liked the songs. It just started turning into singing it randomly, you don’t even think about it. It’s taken on a life of its own.”

If you follow the Panthers on Snapchat, you might be lucky enough to see a Panthers player getting Creedbombed.

Between the Creedbombing and the nickname the Panthers’ defensive backs created for themselves, you can tell Ron Rivera’s squad is having no trouble maintaining a fun and relaxed environment with a trip to the Super Bowl at stake.
