The Jacksonville Jaguars may have had enough interest in Greg Hardy to work him out on Thursday, but they apparently are going to stop short of signing him.
NFL Media’s Rand Getlin first reported Thursday that the Jags worked out and hosted Hardy for a visit. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the team does not plan to sign Hardy.
Pro Football Talk says the Jags brought Hardy in to gain more information about him in case they decide to sign him later. They also report that the Jags were interested in Hardy as early as March but wanted to see what would happen with him over the past few months.
The Carolina Panthers cut ties with Hardy after the 2014 season. The Cowboys signed him to a one-year deal last year but decided not to bring him back. Although he is a talented player — he has 15 sacks in 2013 — his domestic violence arrest in 2014 and allegations related to the case led him to becoming a widely despised figure. He has been trying to clean up his PR image lately and has told teams he is receiving counseling.
The public’s view towards Hardy changed dramatically after photos from his alleged beating of his then girlfriend were released (seen here),
