Ex-NFL RB Jahvid Best finishes 7th in 100m sprint heat
Former Cal and Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best finished seventh in his 100m sprint heat at the Rio Olympics on Saturday and will not advance to the semis, though he can now say he has reached the world-class level in two sports.
Best, who last played in the NFL in 2011, was competing as a sprinter for Saint Lucia, the Caribbean island where his father is from. He ran in a heat for the 100 meter sprint Saturday in Rio and finished with a time of 10.39.

Though he is not advancing in the 100m sprint, this is a very cool feat for Best.
In 22 career NFL games, Best rushed for 945 yards and six touchdowns and posted 774 receiving yards. He retired due to concussions, which began being a problem for him in college.
