Jay Gruden hopes Su’a Cravens deletes Snapchat account after concussion joke
Washington Redskins linebacker Su’a Cravens created quite the buzz earlier this week when he claimed in a social media post that head injuries have resulted in his vision being permanently impaired. As it turns out, the rookie may have been bending the truth.
On Wednesday, Jay Gruden said Cravens is progressing well with his recovery from a concussion. But the Redskins coach was clearly annoyed over the video Cravens shared on Snapchat.
“He’s coming along pretty good, as we understand,” Gruden said, via JP Finlay of CSNMidAtlantic.com. “He’s still in the [NFL concussion] program and we’re hoping to get positive results here shortly. As far as his Snapchat is concerned, I think he deleted his account, hopefully, for a week or so.”
Cravens originally shared a video of himself wearing some new glasses he claims he was just prescribed. He later claimed a doctor told him he has developed issues with his vision as a result of concussions. While Gruden did not outright deny that Cravens was given that diagnosis, he certainly implied it was a fib.
“He understands now fully what not to put on Instagram and Twitter and what to put on there,” Gruden said. “I don’t think he meant anything by it.”
Cravens does like to joke around, which we learned when he made a funny comment about his Cowboys fan mother. That said, the long-term effects of concussions are nothing to make light of. If Cravens really was messing around, he probably learned his lesson.
