Jimmy Garoppolo not being slowed down by recovery from knee injury

Jimmy Garoppolo

It will have been less than a year since Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL when Week 1 rolls around, but the quarterback seems intent on not letting the effects of the injury and recovery process linger into the upcoming season.

Matt Barrows of The Athletic wrote this week that Garoppolo’s surgically-repaired knee was “hardly noticeable” during spring practices. He appears to have gone through a full offseason of workouts and even spent time working with QB guru Tom House, and Barrows says he seems “intent on making up for lost time.”

That’s obviously good news for the San Francisco 49ers, as it sounds like Garoppolo will be ready to go in Week 1. The Niners begin training camp on Friday, and Garoppolo is not expected to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Garoppolo got some private tutoring while he was injured, so he appears to be intent on proving he can bounce back quickly. The 49ers need him to if they want to contend for a playoff spot this season.
