Josh McCown cries after Bucs loss (Video)

Josh McCown on Sunday made his first start since Week 3, and it did not go all that well. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were outplayed by the Atlanta Falcons in the second half and lost 27-17. McCown, who threw two interceptions, seemed crushed after the game.

At one point while speaking with reporters, the 35-year-old veteran began getting choked up.

“One and eight. One and eight,” McCown said while fighting back tears. “You know, you want to give your teammates and your coaches and your fans and your family and everybody here better than that. It just hurts. It hurts.”

It’s hard to imagine any loss for a 1-8 team being particularly heartbreaking, but who are we to criticize McCown for caring? Jay Cutler looked like he was about to turn into Smokin’ Jay Cutler on Sunday night as his Chicago Bears were getting destroyed by the Green Bay Packers.

While McCown has not been what Tampa Bay head coach Lovie Smith expected, the Bucs are just a bad team all around. They were no better off with Mike Glennon.
