Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis had a reason to smile on Sunday despite his team being eliminated from the NFL playoffs.
A former long-time Dallas Cowboys defensive back, Lewis relished seeing the Philadelphia Eagles suffer a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
“At least the eagles lost,” Lewis shared via a post on X following the end of Philadelphia’s pursuit of a Super Bowl two-peat.
Lewis spent his first eight years in the NFL with the Cowboys, who selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over that time, he played in several rivalry games against one of Dallas’ most hated rivals in the NFC East. Even though he’s already with a different team, his hate for the Eagles clearly hasn’t faded one bit, and that tweet just proved it again.
Philadelphia’s downfall also acted as a consolation for Lewis’ season-ending injury.
The former Michigan Wolverines defensive back landed on injured reserve after hurting his foot in a Week 16 meeting with the Denver Broncos in December. With Lewis sidelined, he was unable to help the Jaguars’ defense Sunday, resulting in a 27-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
