Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was widely praised during his rookie season, but some critics continued to raise questions about whether he could throw enough to be a viable long-term option in the NFL.
Jackson answered some of those questions Sunday in a season-opening win over the Miami Dolphins. The Ravens put 59 points on the Dolphins, and much of it was down to Jackson’s arm. The 22-year-old completed 17-of-20 passes for 324 yards and five touchdowns. It was easily the best passing performance of his career, and the first 300-yard game he’s posted in the NFL.
Jackson referenced critics of his arm after the game, joking that it was a pretty good performance — for a running back.

Asked if he proved to everyone that he will throw the ball this season, Lamar Jackson said, “Not bad for a running back.”

Jackson certainly earned the right to gloat a little, even if the Dolphins may turn out to be the worst opponent he faces all season. He has previously acknowledged that he has work to do in the passing department, but by the end of training camp, he was receiving rave reviews. If this is a sign of things to come, the sky is the limit for both Jackson and the Baltimore offense.
