Matt Eberflus rules out 1 possible change after Bears’ latest loss
Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus is pledging to make significant changes after the team’s latest loss, but one potential move is off the table.
Eberflus addressed the state of the Bears after Sunday’s 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. The Bears have not scored a touchdown since Week 8, and they are now 4-5 after what looked like a promising start to the season. The head coach said Monday that “everything is on the table” regarding changes with one exception: Caleb Williams will remain the team’s starting quarterback.
#Bears coach Matt Eberflus says there will be changes after three straight losses but still evaluating and "everything is on the table" — with one exception. No change at QB.
"Caleb is our starter."

After a 4-2 start, the Bears are quickly falling out of contention, and their offense looks inept. It looks more likely that someone like offensive coordinator Shane Waldron will wind up taking the fall, even though Eberflus has stuck with him this long. Williams has largely had little protection to work with as a rookie, and it would be pretty unfair to pin a lot of this on him.
Williams has thrown for 1,785 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions on the season, and is still very much a work in progress. Unfortunately for him, the contrast between his season and that of No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels is pretty glaring.
