Myles Garrett issues statement apologizing for ‘terrible mistake’
Myles Garrett was responsible for committing one of the worst acts ever seen on a football field during Thursday night’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, and the star defensive end is trying to hold himself accountable for his actions.
Not long after the NFL announced that Garrett has been suspended for the remainder of the season and potentially beyond, the former No. 1 overall pick issued a statement on Twitter admitting he made a “terrible mistake.” He also apologized to Mason Rudolph, his teammates, the Browns organization and the fans.

Garrett is reportedly planning to appeal his suspension, but it would be a surprise if the appeal is successful. While it is commendable for him to not make excuses, he could have seriously injured Rudolph when he ripped the quarterback’s helmet off and bashed him with it. His actions crossed the line and escalated an on-field altercation to a level it should never have gone.
Baker Mayfield and other Browns players have said Garrett’s actions were inexcusable, and the organization released a statement echoing those sentiments. Garrett knows there isn’t much he can say at this point.
