The Philadelphia Eagles traded Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday, and the former Arizona star could not be happier about it.
During an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio said those close to Foles admitted the 26-year-old is ecstatic about getting away from Chip Kelly.
“I just talked to a member of Nick Foles’s family,” Paolantonio said. “The guy is absolutely pumped — overjoyed — that he’s out of Philly. … He was not going to re-sign here and the Eagles were not going to give him a long-term deal.”
For whatever reason, Foles was not Kelly’s guy. Throwing for nearly 3,000 yards, 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions in 13 games in 2013 was not enough to convince Kelly that Foles is the right quarterback for his offense.
Now, we’re left to figure out if the Eagles actually want Sam Bradford to be their quarterback or if he is just another trade piece that will be used to put the Eagles in position to draft Marcus Mariota. Some say Kelly is extremely high on Bradford, while Paolantonio and others feel Chip is going hard after Mariota.
In any event, Foles is happier today than he was yesterday.
