Report: Patriots done with Josh Gordon, will waive him after IR stint
Josh Gordon being placed on IR with a knee injury will end the receiver’s time with the New England Patriots, according to a report.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that the Patriots will waive Gordon after the receiver’s stint on injured reserve. He adds that the knee injury was not a new one.
#Patriots WR Josh Gordon was placed on Injured Reserve today because of two bone bruises in his knee that he dealt with before the injury against the #Giants, sources say. His time in NE is likely over as they are moving on. He’ll be waived off IR when fully healthy.

More on WR Josh Gordon: He exacerbated the bone bruises when he went down against the #Giants. It wasn’t a new injury suffered then. The team rested him a week, but he never looked quite right, I’m told. So IR now, he’ll work back to health, then land with a new team.

Gordon had 20 catches for 287 yards and two touchdowns this season. He only had one catch in Week 6 against the Giants and missed Monday night’s game against the Jets due to his knee.
Gordon will finish his Patriots career with 60 catches for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. The Patriots’ acquisition of Mohamed Sanu makes more sense now. They will have Sanu, Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett and Jakobi Myers as receiving options, plus rookie N’Keal Harry when he returns.
