Robert Kraft does not envision Tom Brady’s contract becoming an issue

Tom Brady

Tom Brady is entering the final season of his contract with the New England Patriots in 2019, but team owner Robert Kraft does not envision money becoming an issue between the two sides going forward.

While speaking with reporters from the Super Bowl on Wednesday, Kraft was asked about the possibility of extending Brady’s contract at some point this offseason. He would not say whether or not that is the plan, but he did say he would be “quite surprised” if Brady didn’t remain the Patriots’ quarterback beyond next season.

All of the talk of tension between Brady and Bill Belichick seems like a distant memory at the moment, as the quarterback and coach are trying to win their sixth Super Bowl together in nine tries. Reports of unrest within the Patriots organization led to some speculation that Brady might eventually end up finishing his career elsewhere, but it seems extremely unlikely that Kraft would ever let that happen.

Judging by the way Brady and Belichick embraced each other after winning the AFC Championship Game, it seems like the relationship between the two is plenty strong. Brady has always taken less money so the Patriots can build championship-caliber teams around him, and it would be a surprise if he didn’t continue to do that with his next contract.
