The New England Patriots are two weeks removed from a win over the Indianapolis Colts and likely won’t face them again until 2016, but that isn’t going to stop team owner Robert Kraft from taking shots at a franchise he has beaten up on for years.
Former Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame Thursday night, and Kraft addressed fans during a speech at halftime. New England was playing the Dolphins, but Kraft still worked in a shot at the Colts.
“There’s nothing more satisfying than saddling the Indianapolis Colts with a loss, something the Patriots did 16 times in Willie McGinest’s career,” he said, according to The Associated Press.
McGinest won three Super Bowls with the Pats, and the Colts had as much — or more — trouble with his teams as they have had with Bill Belichick’s more recent squads. McGinest made the big stop on the goal line to seal a win against Indy in 2003, and New England later went on to win its second of three championships in four years.
The Colts embarrassed themselves enough in their most recent loss to the Patriots by running one of the most idiotic fake punt plays you will ever see. Apparently Kraft felt they still deserved to be shamed a little more.
