Seahawks had interest in signing Antonio Brown after Raiders release
There was at least a two-team market for Antonio Brown after he was released by the Oakland Raiders on Saturday morning.
Pete Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle Monday that the team inquired about Brown after his release.
Carroll confirms Seahawks put in a call on Antonio Brown. "We were ready if something was there,'' he said.

Something was not there as Brown signed with the New England Patriots about five hours after his release.
This note from Carroll tells us two things.
One, the Seahawks are looking to upgrade their receivers. They have DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett but are missing Doug Baldwin, who retired due to injuries. Two, the market means that despite Brown’s terrible behavior in Oakland, teams were still willing to sign him. That tells us any hopes of getting Brown on a discount probably would have been negated, though we don’t know how much the Seahawks were willing to pay.
Brown ended up signing for a $1 million base salary, $9 million signing bonus (broken up into two parts: $5 million now and $4 million later) and three incentive markers worth $1.5 million apiece. He apparently wanted to join the Patriots all along.
