The Seattle Seahawks are pulling the plug on their reunion story.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Seahawks have decided to release veteran linebacker Frank Clark. The move comes just two months after Seattle had brought Clark back for a second stint with the team.
The 30-year-old Clark was a second-round draft pick by the Seahawks in 2015 (No. 63 overall) and played his first four NFL seasons with them. But Clark really blossomed after he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. Clark made three straight Pro Bowl teams from 2019-21 and started on both of Kansas City’s Super Bowl-winning teams of the last half-decade (before being released by the Chiefs in March of this year).
Clark’s second stint with Seattle wasn’t much to write home about as he had been a healthy scratch in two of the last three weeks and made just six spot appearances for them this season overall. With the Seahawks deciding on Saturday to formally cut him loose, Clark gains the unfortunate distinction of getting released by three different teams within the same calendar year.
