Shane Beamer responds to speculation about Spencer Rattler’s NFL Draft stock
Quarterback Spencer Rattler has been the subject of some speculation after he fell to the fifth round of the NFL Draft, and his college coach is not happy about it.
South Carolina coach Shane Beamer responded on social media to some narratives that have reportedly surrounded Rattler. In response to ESPN’s Pete Thamel suggesting teams had concerns about Rattler’s size, attitude, and work ethic, Beamer dismissed it as “tired” and “lazy” chatter and predicted that Rattler would be a future NFL starter.
Such a tired , lazy narrative. And bullcrap

“None of the NFL teams that called me said that, And any team that thinks that clearly hasn’t done their research,” Beamer wrote on X. “He dealt (with) adversity at (Oklahoma) in a class way, came to SC, was a great player and was voted by his TEAMMATES as a captain…TWO YEARS IN A ROW.
“He’s a great person, great player and some team is getting a future starter today.”
Some NFL executives may have still been stuck on Rattler’s behavior in a five-year-old reality show. Beamer obviously does not share those concerns.
The New Orleans Saints wound up landing Rattler with the 150th overall pick in the draft. If Beamer is correct about him being a future starter, they will be very pleased.
