The Los Angeles Rams’ lack of quality quarterback play is having a serious effect on running back Todd Gurley’s outlook.
Gurley, who rushed for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games last season, has just 98 yards on 36 carries through two games this year. The second-year running back says it feels like there are 12 players on defense when he’s out there.
“It’s crazy,” Gurley said after practice Friday via ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez. “I’m like, ‘Man, that’s 12 people on the field!'”
Gurley is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry, which isn’t a surprise given the stacked boxes he’s facing. His Rams have yet to score a touchdown on the season as they were shutout against the 49ers and scored just nine points on three field goals against the Seahawks.
The comments from Gurley have to be somewhat troubling for the Rams, especially given quarterback Case Keenum’s recent remarks.
