Zach Ertz shares details about horrific kidney injury he played through
It was no secret that Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was playing through major pain Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, but it wasn’t until after the game that he divulged just how serious his issues were.
Ertz played through various injuries Sunday, most notably a lacerated kidney. He described the symptoms of that injury after the loss, and they weren’t pretty.
Zach Ertz said he had two non-displaced fractures. Blood in his urine after #Cowboys game. #Eagles docs and athletic trainers rushed him to the hospital. Couldn’t get out of bed on his own next day. “I wanted to play for this city. I take a lot of pride playing for my teammates.”

It is absolutely remarkable that Ertz took the field in spite of all this. This comes on top of the back and rib injuries he dealt with. He caught two passes for 44 yards as well in spite of it all. With the Eagles very shorthanded due to injuries — plus losing their quarterback during the game itself — the team needed all the help they could get. In spite of some ugly symptoms, Ertz stepped up.
