Ronda Rousey not retiring: Holly Holm rematch will happen in 2016

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey was expected to be part of a massive fight card for UFC 200 in July, but she recently asked for more time off before squaring off with Holly Holm again. Rousey’s decision to push the fight back has led some to speculate that she is considering retirement.

In a recent chat with TMZ, Rousey said she is “definitely” going to meet Holm for a rematch.

“That’s sometime later in the year,” she said. “They haven’t told me an exact location or date or anything like that.”

When asked specifically if she is going to fight Holm, Rousey made her intentions clear.

“Of course,” she replied. “That’s all I want to do. What do you think we were talking about?”

Rousey requested more time off because the filming of “Roadhouse” got pushed back. UFC president Dana White said in a recent interview with Yahoo Sports that the movie will be done filming before UFC 200, but he admitted it would be “cutting it too close” with training.

We already know Rousey has extremely high hopes for her acting career. We also know she was incredibly depressed after being knocked out by Holm (video here) and has said she will retire if she loses the rematch. That doesn’t mean she’s going to hang it up before that to become a full-time actor.
