Lakers player trying to recruit superfan Clipper Darrell to switch allegiances

Now that the Los Angeles Lakers have some star power back on the team, one of their players is trying to sway a fan to switch allegiances.

“Clipper Darrell,” a well-known Clippers superfan, made some noise when he joked online that LeBron James had called him and asked him to become a Lakers fan.

While that was just a joke, emerging Laker Kyle Kuzma said Darrell should make a change and become “Laker Darrell.” Clipper Darrell said no way.

After many years of being the superior team in LA, the Clippers look like they’re going to return to taking a back seat to the Lakers in terms of performance. Don’t expect Clipper Darrell to jump ship after so many years of supporting the team.

Lakers’ Kuzma sends cryptic tweet in wake of Kawhi rumors

Kyle Kuzma seems to be feeling the heat of his team’s reported pursuit of San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard.

The young Los Angeles Lakers forward took to Twitter on Thursday to post a cryptic tweet. The tweet was a GIF of himself looking concerned.

A couple of hours earlier, Kuzma also had a tweet clowning the media for their reporting of the recent trade rumors.

Kuzma’s posts come in the wake of reports this week that the Lakers are renewing their efforts to acquire Leonard. Any potential trade package for the ex-Defensive Player of the Year would presumably require them to part ways with multiple of their young players and assets, Kuzma possibly included.

Just days ago, the 22-year-old Kuzma was hinting that the Lakers had a big future ahead of them. Now the concern for him has to be that he may not be a part of that future after all.

Los Angeles Lakers fans went wild on Tuesday after a cryptic tweet from Kyle Kuzma that many thought was a hint about LeBron James’ plans.

Kuzma, who just completed his rookie season with the Lakers, tweeted a simple message on Tuesday that said “first domino.”

His tweet was sent right around the time that news broke about Austin Rivers being traded to the Wizards. Despite the timing, many fans thought he was talking about something much bigger.

On top of all that, one of LeBron’s friends — Cuffs the Legend — spent part of his afternoon tweeting hints about LeBron coming to the Lakers. He even tweeted a trophy icon at Kuzma.

Or maybe Kuzma really was just talking about Austin Rivers.

For what it’s worth, Las Vegas supposedly thinks Bron to the Lakers is a “sure thing.”

If you want to learn the best way to put on muscle, there can’t be many people who are better to ask than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. From the way it sounds, it worked for Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma, the No. 27 overall pick in last year’s draft, had an outstanding rookie season. He averaged 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and looks to be a steal where the Lakers drafted him, but the 22-year-old felt he needed to get bigger and stronger before next year. That’s where The Rock came in.

And just in case you thought Kuzma was being sarcastic, The Rock returned the shout-out.

Since the Lakers reportedly asked Kuzma to tone down his rap battle war with teammate Lonzo Ball, he should have even more time to work on his gains going forward. As long as he sticks with The Rock, how can he go wrong?

The Los Angeles Lakers apparently have seen enough of Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma’s public roasting of one another.

Throughout the year the two have engaged in a game where they’ve taken joking shots at each other over social media. But after a diss track released by Lonzo on Monday made some headlines and was taken the wrong way, the Lakers asked the two to end their public jabs.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Ohm Youngmisuk reported Wednesday that the team spoke to both players and that both players agreed to tone down the joking insults on social media.

One issue is that some people were unfamiliar with the ongoing insults battle between the players, so they thought there was genuine friction between them after the diss track. After the situation the Lakers had with D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young, they don’t want anything else going sideways on social media, which is understandable. And they especially want to present a strong front when recruiting LeBron James.

10 NBA rookies who have surpassed expectations

With the NBA Draft eight months in the rearview mirror, some teams are likely already wishing for a do-over.

Consider the Philadelphia 76ers, who selected Washington’s Markelle Fultz No. 1 – to unanimous applause from analysts. Though Fultz’s shoulder injury, which has kept him off the court since Oct. 23, was certainly not his fault, his shot looks broken, and that pick now looks questionable. The Sixers would certainly much rather have Donovan Mitchell or Jayson Tatum.

Meanwhile, other teams are thrilled with the results they’ve seen from their 2017 draft class. Consider the Los Angeles Lakers, who, while they’ve gotten mixed results from No. 2 pick Lonzo Ball, snagged Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart with late first-round picks. If we had a redraft, all three would likely be lottery picks.

Other teams still don’t know how to evaluate their 2017 draft. Did the Suns make a good or bad pick in taking Josh Jackson at No. 4? Did the Kings make a good or bad pick in taking De’Aaron Fox at No. 5? At this point, no one really knows.

We do know, however, that a handful of rookies have far outperformed expectations. Here are 10 who have stood out – and made a bunch of teams regret passing on them.

Kyle Kuzma slams NCAA after Louisville punishment

It’s safe to say that Kyle Kuzma is not a big fan of the NCAA.

The Los Angeles Lakers forward had a rather strong reaction to the news that the NCAA was forcing Louisville to take down their 2013 championship banner as punishment for the sex scandal that was going on at the university at the time, in which an assistant hired dancers to strip for and have sex with possible recruits.

Kuzma, however, doesn’t think the NCAA has any moral authority here.

Kuzma went to the University of Utah, so there’s not any connection here other than a former NCAA athlete taking the opportunity to call out the NCAA. It’s not a new stance, but it’s certainly further evidence that there are current and former college athletes out there who feel the system is not working for them.
