Former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro dead at 39
Former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro died on Thursday at the age of 39.
According to The Blast, officials received a rescue call at 5:23 AM to Massaro’s home in Smithtown, New York. CPR was performed on her on the way to the hospital, where she died. The death is currently being classified as non-criminal, according to the report.
The WWE issued a statement on Massaro’s death.
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends,” the WWE said.
Massaro won the WWE Diva Search in 2005 and received a one-year contract with the organization, which led to a four-year run with the promotion. She ended up trying to make a wrestling comeback in 2017 with an independent promotion.
In addition to her WWE fame, Massaro was known for posing in several magazines including Playboy. She also appeared on “Survivor: China.”
