I don’t know what the deal is with Shaq or what’s crawled up his behind lately, but for some reason he has a desire to play another three seasons in the Association. Check out the crazy comments the Big Fella made on Sporting News Radio Saturday with Joe McDonnell and Bob Berger regarding his retirement plans:
“I have changed my mind. These [Suns trainers] that have been working on me, they have another technique. And you know, even though I’ve been playing 17 years on paper, if you subtract the games that I missed, I missed three years. Therefore [that] tells you I have three years to play.
Because you know, if I were to play 82 games for 17 years, my body would probably be feeling the effect, but as you know, when I was there, I missed a lot of games. And a lot of times I was on vacation, you know what I mean? Missed 50 games, only played 30, it was like a college season, so you know my body is not really that of a guy that plays 17 years with the style that I play.
So you know we have this new technique, stretching and all that, and you know, I’m eating right and staying in shape so I’m feeling, feeling really good.”
Well, took several years, but Shaq finally comes clean on admitting that he took vacation during the regular season all those years. Maybe he should reimburse Jerry Buss with some of the money he makes over the next few seasons. These comments certainly explain why Shaq’s been trying to needle his way onto the Cavs and Mavericks recently. By the way, you think there’s anyone rooting harder against the Lakers and Kobe than Shaq? He’ll do whatever he can to get another ring and remind the world that Kobe can’t win one without him.
