Katherine Webb forced to leave ABC’s ‘Splash’ because of a back injury

Katherine-WebbKatherine Webb had not exactly been lighting things up on ABC’s reality diving show “Splash” prior to Tuesday night, but the former Miss Alabama USA had been holding her own. However, her run on the show came to an end this week due to a back injury.

According to AL.com, Webb had performed inconsistently on the show but done well enough to stick around while four other competitors were either eliminated or decided to quit. A training montage of Webb that was played at the beginning of the show’s most recent episode showed her struggling mightily during a series of practice dives. Before making her competitive dive on Tuesday, Webb revealed that she is leaving the show.

“I went to the doctor and unfortunately he told me I’m out for the competition,” she said.

Webb took to Twitter late Tuesday night to thank her fans for their support after making the announcement. Because Webb has been forced to leave the competition due to injury, the show’s rules state that the competitor who was most recently eliminated will be brought back. That person is 400-pound comedian Louie Anderson, who has served as an inspiration to many because of his witty sense of humor and the weight he has lost during the show.

Anderson delighted the audience on Tuesday with a feet-first jump from a 10-meter platform. However, I’m sure there are plenty of people who will miss seeing Webb in her bikini. AJ McCarron did all he could to coach her on dealing with the media, but I’m sure he could tell you that injuries happen.
