Champ Bailey Knows Tim Tebow Overshadows Broncos Defense, But Doesn’t Care Because They’re Winning

In five of their eight regular season victories, the Broncos scored 18 or fewer points.  That means Tim Tebow and the Denver offense were able to do enough to win those games, but if not for their defense coming up with timely stops the Broncos would never have even made the playoffs.  Naturally, Tebow has received all the hype and credit.  As long as the team is winning, the lack of attention Denver’s defense has received is just fine with veteran corner Champ Bailey.

“We don’t get the credit I think we deserve, but at the same time, we don’t care,” Bailey said this week on Rich Eisen’s podcast according to NFL.com. “We are winning games. That’s what it’s all about; it’s a team sport. Tebow, he’s getting a lot of attention, but the more people watch him, the more people watch us. He’s one of our brothers, so we cheer for him. We want him to get that attention. He handles it well, which makes it even easier for us to like him.”

All is well when you’re awaiting a match-up with New England for a shot at the AFC Championship game.  Tebow can force the mayor of Pittsburgh to drop down to one knee, inspire the Conan O’Brien Show to recreate one of his moments using peanuts, and ruin Ryan Clark’s week.  As long as the team is winning games, it really doesn’t matter who the spotlight is shining on.

If the Patriots’ offense blows out the Broncos on Saturday night and the heat all of a sudden falls on Denver’s defense, a few Broncos may become annoyed.  As long as divine intervention or whatever it may be continues to result in victories, the team will be stuck together like glue.
