Champ Bailey Says Tim Tebow Has a lot to Prove, Needs to Become Better Passer

Tim Tebow has earned the title of starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos.  Without his leadership and will, it would have have been tough to imagine the Broncos making it all the way to the divisional round of the playoffs this year.  His 2011 run resulted in John Elway naming Tebow the starter heading into training camp next season — much to the dismay of Brian BillickChamp Bailey believes Tebow has earned the endorsement, but cautioned that he still has a lot of work to do.

“I think Tim has a lot to prove still,” Bailey said Wednesday on Jim Rome Is Burning according to Pro Football Talk. “He’s proven he can win some tough games. Now it’s just being consistent. One thing about him, he’s going to work at it. And I’m behind him 100 percent.

“I think at some point he’s going to have to improve with his arm, which would make him even more deadly. That’s one area he’s going to have to improve to be elite in this league. But the things he does running the ball — he can make some throws, it’s just being comfortable doing it. He’s got to get better at it, and when he does, the sky’s the limit for him.”

In other news, the sky is blue.  Bailey’s assessment of Tebow is perfectly accurate.  Many people believe he will never become an efficient NFL passer and, as a result, his “luck” will fizzle out.  However, we talk about Tebow so much and he has become such a global icon that it is easy to forget how young he is.  Joe Theismann may not think it’s possible, but if anyone can put forth the work needed to improve in one area it’s Tim Tebow.  Elway’s endorsement simply means he believes in Tebow.  After what happened this season, why shouldn’t he?
