Danny Trevathan loses touchdown celebrating too early

Congratulations, Danny Trevathan. You have officially joined the likes of Leon Lett and DeSean Jackson when it comes to embarrassing plays.

Trevathan cost the Denver Broncos a touchdown during their season opening game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night by celebrating too early and dropping the ball before crossing the goal line. Trevathan had picked off Joe Flacco on a beautiful play in the fourth quarter, but he dropped the ball shy of the goal line.

Not only did he cost Denver a touchdown, but the Ravens ended up retaining possession after and getting a touchback. To make matters worse, Baltimore put together an 80-yard touchdown drive. Instead of the score being 49-17 Denver, it became 42-24.

No surprise, Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was fuming with Trevathan. He lit up his linebacker on the sidelines in a major way. Watch:

As a bonus, here’s video of Jackson costing his team with premature celebrations twice!
