Rex Ryan trolled Doug Marrone by making entire offensive line captains

Rex-Ryan-trolls-Doug-Marrone

Doug Marrone made a somewhat shocking decision late last year when he stepped down as head coach of the Buffalo Bills following a 9-7 season. The move paved the way for the Bills to bring in Rex Ryan, who wanted to remind Marrone on Sunday of what he used to have.

Before the Bills took on the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, Ryan had his five starting offensive linemen walk out to midfield for the coin toss. Marrone is currently the offensive line coach for the Jags.

Bills legends Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas were honorary captains for the game, which probably helped Ryan’s troll job fly under the radar:

Marrone didn’t leave the Bills on good terms, and some of his former players made it clear that they felt betrayed. As Matthew Fairburn of Syracuse.com noted, Marrone didn’t spend much time catching up with his old team before Sunday’s game and was only on the field for about 10 minutes during warmups.

Of course, Marrone and his team got the last laugh as the Jaguars thwarted a late comeback attempt and hung on for a 34-31 victory. Stirring the pot and then losing is Ryan’s favorite pastime.
