Su’a Cravens out for season after being placed on reserve/left squad list
Washington Redskins safety Su’a Cravens will not be playing football at all in 2017, the team announced Monday.
The Redskins released an official statement revealing that they have placed Cravens on the Reserve/Left Squad list, which will rule him ineligible until next offseason.
“We sincerely hope that Su’a uses this time away from the club to reflect upon whether or not he’d like to resume his career in the National Football League in 2018,” the statement read.
Cravens made a public appearance over the weekend when he was spotted on the sideline at USC’s game against Texas. A report from Sunday claimed the former second-round pick was planning to return to the team this week, but Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Monday that he had not heard from Cravens or anything about the defensive back’s situation.
It’s unclear what personal issues Cravens is dealing with. He underwent knee surgery a month ago and made some disturbing revelations about concussion-like symptoms last year, though he later claimed he was joking.
