MMA Fighter Nick Diaz Thinks He Knows How to Beat a Drug Test
This seems to be quite the trend lately — first it was Tony Mandarich telling us how to beat a steroids test, now it’s Nick Diaz explaining how to beat a weed test. First off, you need to know that Diaz is fighting on a pretty big card this weekend on Showtime against Frank Shamrock. Now know that MMA requires intense skill, courage, training, and ability. You figure that means cutting out all pleasures in life and just hitting the gym, drinking water, and eating egg yokes. Not the case for Diaz:
“I’m more consistent about everything being a cannabis user,” Diaz said in an interview with The Times last week. “I’m happy to get loaded, hear some good music . . . I remain consistent. And I have an easy way to deal with [the drug tests].
“I can pass a drug test in eight days with herbal cleansers. I drink 10 pounds of water and sweat out 10 pounds of water every day. I’ll be fine.”
Well, if the police ever need to meet their ticket quota for the month, I would suggesting showing up at Diaz’s house. I guess he’s trying to make the case for the “productive pot-head.” Aside from being illegal, weed is banned from MMA because it’s considered a pain-masking agent. And for all the stuff Diaz says about beating a test, it sure didn’t help him two years ago when he tested positive at Pride 33. Maybe he hadn’t quite perfected his routine by then — I’m guessing he was only drinking five pounds of water.
