Aaron Judge says Yankees’ confidence still high despite rough start

The New York Yankees lost again on Sunday, but Aaron Judge isn’t tripping.

Following a 5-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox that dropped them to 6-9 on the young season, the Yankees slugger said that the team’s confidence was “still high.” He also preached about fighting adversity, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.

Aaron Judge: "Confidence is still high. That'll never change. That's one thing we try to preach here in this clubhouse. It doesn't matter what adversity gets thrown our way, we've just got to keep going out there and playing our game, and people will step up."

— Bryan Hoch (@BryanHoch) April 14, 2019

The Yankees have now lost four of their first five series to start the year, and Sunday’s defeat marked the fifth in their last six games. They have also been felled by numerous injuries to key players on both sides of the ball, including former MVP Giancarlo Stanton, All-Star catcher Gary Sanchez, ace righty Luis Severino, and bullpen dynamo Dellin Betances.

Through it all though, the Yankees are still second in the AL East and just two games out of a Wild Card spot. That should help ease the blow of a season that so far has felt like a shot to the nuts for them in more ways than one.
