To say the Los Angeles Angels had a good start to Monday’s game against the Boston Red Sox would be the understatement of the century.

The Angels entered the American League clash in Boston, Mass., with just one win over their last eight games. The struggling visitors let out their frustrations against Red Sox starting pitcher Richard Fitts in the first inning.

Angels shortstop Zach Neto got the party started with a leadoff home run over the Green Monster in left field.

Two singles and an error gave the Angels a 2-0 lead and set up Mike Trout with runners on first and second and nobody out. The three-time MVP made the error hurt by hitting a mammoth 454-foot home run that landed somewhere on Lansdowne Street.

Jo Adell followed in Trout’s lead two batters later. The Angels centerfielder smashed a solo shot over the Green Monster for the third time before the Red Sox could get their second out.

The Angels became the first visiting team in MLB history to hit three home runs in the first inning at Fenway Park. Considering the stadium opened in 1912, it will likely be a while before another team matches the incredible feat.

The Angels are the first visiting team in the history of Fenway Park to hit 3 homers in the first inning.

Fitts got the final two outs but was replaced on the mound for the second inning. He came into the game with a 2.70 ERA with just two home runs given up across four starts this season. On Monday, his ERA ballooned to 4.71 after his lone inning of work.

Boston was able to cut the lead to 6-5 through five innings. Adell cleared the Green Monster one more time to lead off the sixth inning. His second home run put the Angels back up by two.
