Adam Jones: I would have $100 million if I never got suspended

Adam “Pacman” Jones once had the potential to become one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Unfortunately, the former No. 6 overall pick is his own worst enemy and can’t stay out of trouble with the law.

Jones understands the amount of damage he has done to his career with off-field incidents. In fact, the 31-year-old told reporters on Wednesday that he believes he could have been one of the highest-paid players in the NFL if not for his boneheaded decisions.

“If I would have never gotten suspended, I would have $100 million right now,” Jones said, per Cole Harvey of ESPN.com.

Jones’ response came after he was asked if he ever wonders how his career would have gone if he were just a special teamer and not a starting cornerback.

“Ifa, coulda, woulda,” he said. “You got to think about your past to get to your future. But I don’t let it block nothing mentally or physically that I’m trying to do.”

There’s little question Jones would have enjoyed more success — especially financially — had he not gotten into so much trouble. Most recently, Pacman got in kicked out of a casino in Indiana for disorderly conduct. He was not arrested. He was also recently in the news after a state supreme court in Nevada upheld a $12 million verdict in the 2007 strip club shooting he ignited. Jones was cited for disorderly conduct in 2013, and he was arrested in a separate case for allegedly punching a woman earlier in the year. Some things never change.

We don’t know about $100 million, but Jones had the potential to make a lot more than the roughly $1.5 million per season he currently makes.
