Bryce Harper became emotional during a postgame interview on Sunday after what may have been his last game as a member of the Washington Nationals.
Harper batted third and went 2-for-4 with a double in a 12-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies that ended a disappointing season for the Nats. Harper was asked in his postgame interview with MASN about what he was thinking as he went to the plate for his final at-bat.
To the fans: “I can’t thank them enough. I love D.C. That’s what it’s all about.”

“It’s tough. Getting a little emotional right now, because you never know … if I’m back, I’d love to be. If I’m not, we’ll see what happens,” Harper said.
Harper also gave a shoutout to the fans for always having his back and for cheering him on.
As the season has headed towards a close, things have started to feel more and more like Harper would not be back with the Nationals. He will likely want to take the greatest contract offered to him in free agency, and it’s possible that will not come from Washington. He seems to recognize that, which seems to explain why he’s been so emotional over the past week, as if he’s been preparing for his goodbye.
