Corey Seager expected to be in lineup for Game 1 of World Series
Corey Seager is expected to be in the lineup for the Dodgers when they begin play in the World Series next week.
The 23-year-old shortstop was not on the Dodgers’ NLCS roster due to a back injury. Seager battled some injuries down the stretch of the regular season and hurt his back on a slide in Game 3 of the NLDS, leading to him being left off the NLCS roster.
Seager said prior to the NLCS that he was unsure of his status for the World Series if his team were to advance, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Sunday that Seager was getting close to normal.
After clinching the pennant with an 11-1 win in Game 5 over the Cubs, Roberts said he expected to have Seager in the lineup for Game 1 of the World Series.

Seager won NL Rookie of the Year last season and is a two-time All-Star. He batted .295 with 22 home runs during the regular season. He batted .273 with two RBIs in the NLDS against Arizona.
His replacement at shortstop in the NLCS, Charlie Culberson, went 5-for-11 (.455) with two doubles and a triple in the series against the Cubs.
