David Price says rehab is ‘going pretty smooth’
David Price has not pitched yet this season for the Boston Red Sox as he recovers from an elbow issue.
Price experienced soreness in his elbow during spring training and underwent an MRI that revealed he would not need surgery. He’s been rehabbing since and is in the middle of a throwing program that will hopefully get him ready for action before too long.
Price threw a bullpen session on Saturday and says his rehab program is “going pretty smooth.”
“I haven’t had any setbacks yet. It’s going pretty smooth,” Price said, via WEEI.
Price didn’t throw any breaking balls during his bullpen session as he’s not ready to do that from a mound just yet.
The 31-year-old went 17-9 with a 3.99 ERA last season — his first with the Red Sox. It seems like a return at some point in May is likely.
