David Price confirms he will not opt out of Red Sox contract
David Price silenced his critics with some outstanding playoff pitching to help lead the Boston Red Sox to a World Series championship, but the left-hander is not going to see if that performance would earn him more money on the free agent market.
Before the Red Sox held their championship parade on Wednesday, Price confirmed to reporters that he will not opt out of the final four years of his contract with the team.

While there was speculation that Price might be itching to get out of Boston because of the icy relationship he has had with the media and fans since he signed his $217 million deal, he made it clear that winning truly does cure all.

It’s tough to believe Price never held ill will toward the fans in Boston, but his main beef is with the media. There’s no way he could deny having issues with reporters when you see some of the awkward interviews he has had, but Price was quick to point out after winning Game 5 of the World Series that he “hold(s) all the cards now.”
Price is 33 and will make $127 million over the next four seasons with the Red Sox. If he chose to test the market, he might have risked teams not wanting to spend huge on him. The decision to remain in Boston is not a surprise.
