Mets fan gets roasted by broadcast for throwing back home run ball
A New York Mets fan may have made himself popular in the Wrigley Field bleachers on Saturday, but it cost him the respect of the team’s broadcasters.
During the fifth inning of Saturday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a home run into the left field bleachers at Wrigley Field. The ball happened to be caught by a Mets fan.
However, Wrigley Field gets upset if a visiting team’s home run is not thrown back. The Mets fan bowed to peer pressure and tossed the Mets home run back on the field to a roar of approval.
"Grow a spine man."
"Obviously not a leader."

The Mets broadcast, on the other hand, was none too pleased.
“That is too much peer pressure. Grow a spine, man,” Steve Gelbs said.
Color commentator Ron Darling concurred: “Obviously not a leader.”
We have to agree. Unless the guy took notes from this Wrigley fan, you have to stand up for yourself there. The crowd may have approved, but thanks to the broadcast, he’s going to go viral for the wrong reasons in New York.
