Los Angeles Angels fan favorite Taylor Ward has shared an update on his condition after his scary outfield collision at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
Ward tried to make a play on a deep fly ball to left field during the eighth inning of the Angels’ Sunday afternoon contest against the Houston Astros. After failing to make the catch, the veteran outfielder slammed his head violently against the stadium’s metal out-of-town scoreboard.
Ward’s face was dripping with blood right after the incident. Angels pitchers came onto the field to attend to Ward as medical personnel rushed to the outfield from the dugout. Ward needed to be carted off the field and did not return.
Having metal in a playable spot on any place of an outfield wall will never make sense

The Athletic’s Sam Blum caught up with Ward later that evening and called the entire thing a “best-case scenario” for the Angels.
Blum noted that it was “all good news” from Ward and that he was “doing well.” The incident left him with a nasty cut above his right eye that was immediately stitched up, but nothing more.
Two seasons ago, Ward needed nasal reconstruction surgery after the Angels veteran was hit in the face by a 92-mph fastball. Based on Ward’s update, Sunday’s collision did not appear to affect his previous injury.
Nevertheless, the Angels did not waste any time calling out the Astros for keeping such a dangerous outfield fixture on an MLB field.
