Anthony Davis leaves game with scary eye injury
Anthony Davis suffered an eye injury Sunday and had to leave the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Toronto Raptors at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif.
The Lakers trailed the Raptors 73-70 in the third quarter when Davis blocked a Jakob Poeltl dunk attempt. Poeltl accidentally raked Davis in the left eye with his off-hand while trying to ward off the Lakers star. Davis appeared to be in serious pain as medical personnel attended to him along the baseline.

The Lakers big man was later ruled out of the game. He had 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks on 6/8 shooting prior to exiting. The purple and gold were able to rally without Davis to beat the Raptors 123-103.
Davis is no stranger to eye injuries. Last season, the Lakers star suffered a corneal abrasion on the same eye. Davis described it as feeling like his eye was “torn open.”
Losing Davis for an extended period would be a tough blow for a Lakers squad that is already dealing with some growing pains under new head coach JJ Redick.
Davis entered Sunday’s contest as the NBA’s scoring leader with 32.4 points per game. He has also averaged 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.
