ESPN analyst spreads fake Kyrie Irving-James Harden story

Kendrick Perkins leans over

ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins seems to have fallen victim to a satirical sports Twitter account.

Perkins was on ESPN Friday morning and talking about the Brooklyn Nets’ convincing win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. Perkins tried to make up for trash he’s talked about Kyrie Irving in the past and said that Irving’s performance in the game changed his opinion of the guard.

While praising Irving, Perkins also happened to share an anecdote that originated from a satire account.

Here is what Perkins said on ESPN show “Get Up.”

“All those rumors and stories that we heard about Kyrie and James Harden in practice with the Nets, and Kyrie going at him. Guess what? Kyrie showed us last night that those were facts and that was true!” Perkins said.

Hmm, what rumors and stories was Perkins talking about?

Ballsack Sports, which makes up fake stories but presents them on Twitter as if they’re real news, shared a tweet in February that drew attention. Their fake story said Irving and Harden got into a physical altercation at practice when they were teammates on the Nets.

That seems to be the “rumor” to which Perkins was referring.

Yes, Perkins’ opinion of Irving has been influenced and shaped by a completely fabricated story designed to dupe people on social media.

Way to go, Perk. Carry the heck on.
